Next Big Thing Talent Show returns to the Kings Fair for the show’s 8th consecutive year with major changes and new prizes. Auditions begin May 26.

Since 2003 J-Live Entertainment the creators of the Next Big Thing Talent Show have been producing the talent showcase all throughout the state of California, thousands of contestants have received opportunities to perform on stage, numerous show champions have went on to have successful careers, awarded over $25,000 in cash prizes and even had their first champion advance to the top 24 of American Idol.

But for J-Live Entertainment, that is not enough.

“The 2011 season will bring major changes and new prize opportunities”, said Joey Perez, Founder of J-Live Entertainment. “It’s time to shake things up”.

Major changes include the show’s format that has been produced without any changes or adjustments since 2003. Instead of an undecided amount of selected contestants based on talent, only 20 contestants will be selected to perform in the competition which will take place at the Kings Fair July 7-10.

10 contestants will be chosen for the newly formed Kid’s/Teen category (Ages 6-17) normally two separate categories & 10 contestants will be chosen for the Adult category (Ages 18 and up)

Contestants will still have to attend the traditional auditions which begin May 26 and continue on June 16 at the Kings Fair. Live auditions at Thursday Night Marketplace will take place June 23 & 30. All auditions start at 7pm.

However, prior to the show along with the audition process, once selected, contestants will now be required to rehearse special group performances selected from a list of songs provided by the competition within their age group. The performances will take place at the fair show prior to individual performances.

“We want the contestants to be serious about the competition as we are (J-Live) in regards to the production and understand that ultimately we are producing a show for the fair and they are the stars that will need to bring it and entertain”, said Perez. “This will be a nice crash course for the big time, if that’s where they want to be”.

While rehearsing their group performances, contestants will also have to focus on their individual performances which they will be judged on at the fair.

Eliminations will take place at each show during the fair however the judging process will also change.

Contestants will now be given a category, (Dance/dance group, Singer, Rap, Instrument player, & Special talent which include comedy, magician, etc.)

Contestants will be now awarded a special award based on category and the cash prizes will be awarded based on overall talent show performance.

Awards list: Individual category awards, Best Dance/Dance Group, Best Singer, Best Rap/Group, Best Instrument player, & Best Special Talent. 1 overall winner $500 – Kid’s/Teen Category & 1 overall winner $500 Adults Category.

Another added prize to the competition is a performance contract with the newly formed J-Live Entertainment Presents Talent Management agency where contestants if chosen will be an exclusive talent to the agency and will be provided with more opportunities for exposure through live performances at various venues and events throughout the State along with being added as a performer to the NEXT Live concert series. A concert dedicated to Central Valley’s Next Big Stars.
